Welfare Guardians Canterbury
Our volunteers look after people who have no-one else, when they can no longer look after themselves.
WELCOME TO
Welfare Guardians Canterbury
Too many people have no-one to care for them.
Welfare Guardians Canterbury trains and supports volunteers to help people who are unable to make their own health and welfare decisions – and who have no family or friends who can do this for them.
We are a registered Canterbury-based charity, founded in 2018, with the aim that everyone in need has access to a competent and compassionate Welfare Guardian.
We invite anyone interested to find out more and to consider becoming a volunteer or a supporter of Welfare Guardians Canterbury.

Our Patrons
- The contribution made by our Patrons is extraordinary. As a charity, we rely on our individual donors, Trusts & Foundations and corporate partners to enable us to keep finding, training and supporting volunteers to be Welfare Guardians for those who have no-one else. The partnership, generosity and foresight of our supporters make our work possible, and it’s recognised by everyone at Welfare Guardians Canterbury, including our Trustees and our Founding Patron, Rose Henderson ONZM.
